Fold the iPhone Duo simulator from your Mac.
Pick a posture or drag the hinge to any angle. Watch it fold as a 3D model with both panels live, and see how your app follows the hinge.
Five postures, and every angle between them
These are the angles your app reads at each preset. A preset moves the hinge over about half a second, so the app sees a fold and not a jump. Try it here.
- Hinge angle
- 127.8°
- Posture
- Partially Open
Everything the fold needs, in one bar
The bar under the device holds Rotate, Closed, Partially Open and Open, then Laptop and Tent, the hinge slider and a 3D button.
- Any angle
- The hinge slider sets any angle from 0° to 180°. Device ▸ Fold / Unfold does it from the menu too.
- Hold it any way
- Device ▸ Orientation holds the device portrait, upside down, landscape left or right, face up or face down.
- A 3D model you can turn
- Drag to turn it, pinch or scroll to zoom, double-click to face it again. View ▸ Turn Around shows its back.
- Live panels
- The lit panel shows the simulator's own picture and takes clicks, drags and, with Keyboard Capture, typing. The stage follows it from the cover to the inside.
- Buttons that move
- The volume and side buttons press in under the pointer, held for as long as you click.
- Two finishes
- A dark finish by default. View ▸ Device Color picks the light one.
- Compact window
- The small window keeps the 3D model and keeps its size while the device folds and turns.
- Capture the fold
- Screenshots, recordings and a replay of the last seconds, from the panel that is lit.
- Picks up where you left it
- The fold is remembered while the simulator stays booted, and a simulator opened elsewhere is shown in the posture it is in.
- Gets unstuck
- If an app keeps both panels dark after a fold, a banner offers to lock and wake the simulator, which lets it go.
Drawn from your own Xcode
Xcode 27.1 ships Apple's 3D model of iPhone Duo. Device Hub Pro reads it from your Xcode while it runs and never copies it into the app or the repository. It draws it the way Xcode's Device Hub does: seen from the front, sized like Zoom to Fit and Physical Size, and the same size in every posture.
The hinge on screen follows the simulator's hinge frame by frame. If your Xcode has no model, or you turn the 3D view off, the device shows in its flat 2D frame and everything else keeps working.
Daybreak: open the phone and the sun rises
Daybreak is a small open-source app for the iPhone Duo simulator, in ios/duo. The hinge angle is the time of day: night on the closed cover, blue hour in Tent, sunrise in Laptop, golden hour in the half-open book and noon when it lies flat.
It reads the angle with onHingeChange and lays out around the fold from the window's division region. A Readings sheet shows the live hinge, window and region values, so it doubles as a check that your fold arrives the way your app expects.
iPhone Duo questions
How do I fold the iPhone Duo simulator on a Mac?
Open the iPhone Duo simulator in Device Hub Pro and use the posture buttons under the device: Closed, Partially Open and Open, plus Laptop and Tent. The hinge slider at the end of the same bar sets any angle from 0 to 180 degrees. Device ▸ Fold / Unfold does the same from the menu.
Can I see the iPhone Duo simulator in 3D?
Yes, when your Xcode ships Apple's 3D model of the device. Device Hub Pro reads the model from your Xcode at runtime and draws it with the live panels on it. Drag to turn it, pinch to zoom, and use View ▸ Turn Around to see its back. Without the model, the device shows in its 2D frame.
What do I need for the iPhone Duo simulator?
Xcode 27.1 with the iOS 27.1 simulator runtime, on macOS 26 or later on an Apple silicon Mac, and Device Hub Pro.
